The SubDivision: Origins [PL001X]

sjah83 Bruno Sánchez and Daniele Perola, aka The SubDivision, signing a hard bass/dubstep LP baked & cooked in a total state of anonymity... until now, when it has become a reality thanks to Paradise Lost Recordings. I love its tempo, its quietness, the ambient that surrounds every track. Fifteen years of experimentation compiled in a remastered & highly recommended edition. Favorite track: Pensieri Morbidi.

about

All tracks written and produced by Daniele Pirola and Bruno Sanchez.

As we changed distributors soon after the label started, PL001 never got on the streaming radar which is a shame because it's where it all began! In this expanded edition of PL001 we add several other tracks that play an important part in the launch of Paradise Lost, even though they were originally released on other labels.

Tracks such as Devils Kiss and Apocalypto, originally released solely on vinyl by Komonazmuk's Mode Recordings in 2008 and The Kiss, released on Kokeshi demonstrated the cinematic feel and epic vibe that The SubDivision became known for in the dubstep scene. The Light, originally released on Dubkraft, expands on this with an unusual arrangement but totally epic feel while Piranha, released on True Tiger, showcases the heavier floor vibes we were feeling in 2009 (sheesh, that's a long time ago!)

Around the time of these releases, The SubDivision started Paradise Lost recordings and would only release on their own label (apart from a track or two on the now-defunct Terminal Dusk). Their first release on Paradise Lost, PL001, originally only on vinyl, would contain The Messenger, upping the ante on epic arrangements along with Pensieri Morbidi, which showcased their sensitive leanings and affection for a more nuanced and chill sound. Feelin' Love rounded out the original release with a heavy wobble sound.

Geo and Bruno Sanchez, who worked together as The SubDivision, work on their own solo projects now, but every now and again get together for more epic action, as seen on the Gates of Charon projects.

We are delighted to package these eight songs into a deluxe PL001 release and title it 'Origins'. There may be some inconsistencies with the mastering of these various tracks, but that's just a part of the various outlets these tracks were released on I suppose! It's been 15 years and these tracks have been waiting for their time to shine digitally on the label. Our label's catalogue felt naked without this release, which is the epitome of the sound we founded everything upon. We now we feel better releasing them to you and we hope you enjoy.
